San Francisco: Erik Whitehorn, 18, claiming he was pushed into resisting the draft by "an over-enthusiastic mother", has been freed from a four-year federal prison term. He went to prison May 28 after a trial for draft evasion. He said he didn't register because his mother wouldn't give him permission to do so. In a tearful appearance before a U.S. district judge 8/25, Erik said he changed his mind and wanted to register. The judge reduced his sentence to the time already served on condition he register for the draft. Whitehorn is seen in this '68 photo with his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Whitehorn.
