Giants Get New Manager -- President Horace Stoneham of the San Francisco Giants (left) with Tom Sheehan, head of the Giants scouting system, at a press conference where Stoneham announced that the team’s manager, Bill Rigney, had been fired and that Sheehan had been appointed interim field chief. Rigney, in his fifth season with the Giants, got into trouble after his second place team lost three straight games to the league loading Pittsburgh Pirates, this week.
