Freighter Wrecked Near Golden Gate Shore Salvage workers use a breeches buoy to start salvage operations on the S.S. Ohioan, freighter of the American-Hawaiian Line, which was wrecked on rocks 300 feet from shore in the Golden Gate. The ship ran on the rocks in a dense fog, and the crew were taken off in Coast Guard surf boats. Hundreds of San Franciscans watched the rescue from a cliff on shore.
