Pamela Cross, 9, of Dixon, California, shows a letter in her fourth-grade class that she received from the Nixon administration telling her to stick to her schoolwork and let the President take care of national and international decisions. As a class project Pamela wrote to President Nixon and asked "Why are you spending all that money on war and not on schools, papers, and books?" Later she received the answer from Thomas Burns, acting associate commissioner for elementary education in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
