Darien, Conn. - Mrs. Barbara Kahle Wheat, left, 38, and a friend leave police headquarters here today after Mrs. Wheat was freed in $15,000 bail in the shooting of her artist husband, John Potter Wheat. Darien police chief J. Edmund Brencher said that Mrs. Wheat fired three bullets into her husband in their home early today as their two children slept in an adjoining room. Wheat, 37, is in serious condition in Stamford Hospital with two of the bullets still in him. Mrs. Wheat was charged with assault with intent to murder.
