‘Gerda’ On the Move--Hurricane Gerda is seen from an altitude of 900 miles from the ESSA 8 satellite today as she formed in the Atlantic about 170 miles off Cape Hatteras, N.C. The storm is moving north-northeastward parallel to the coast and poses a serious threat to the North Atlantic and New England states.
