The prodigal son kneeling and weeping before a trough where two pigs are eating. In the upper left corner, "The Prodigal Son." Signed on lower left corner, "A. Legros." Before the cross-hatching on the trough, and before the hindquarters of the pig nearest the edge of the plate has been defined.
