Under the shade of three palm trees, the virgin sits, holding the baby Jesus on her knees. Saint Joseph is standing behind her. On the left in the foreground, is a winged angel on his knees and prostrate in adoration; behind him, another angel is kneeling and his eyes are raised to the sky. Above the group, a flying angel drops flowers; behind this angel is another flying angel, with clasped hands. (Berlioz, The Childhood of Christ, 2nd part)
