End of first day's murder trial

Paul D. Pierce, 22, of North Vassalboro, leaves Washington County Superior Courthouse, Machias, Maine, where he is on trial in connection with the dynamite slaying of his in-laws, Larson N. and Alice Kelley, last August. The slender youth, one time valedictorian at Waterville, Maine High school and former Coast Guard Academy cadet at New London, Conn., appeared at ease during today's trial.
