Fantin-Latour, Henri, 1836-1904 · 1877
On the left, Manfred, in a black suit that resembles the one carried to Hamlet, sits on the edge of a precipice. He throws himself back with one hand resting on the ground and the other raised in an attitude of surprise and admiration. The genie appears in front of him in the figure of a beautiful young naked woman with blond, loose hair. She plays in the air - her light veils are raised by her hands and float around her.
