Dido sits on a marble bench. Her face is in profile, her arms are folded across her chest and her hands touch the edge of her clothes. Aeneas is on his knees, his face in the shadows, and he looks at her tenderly. On the left, above the two lovers and behind the bench, is a tree. In the middle of the waters, is a small round temple, surrounded by columns. The moon, which can be seen in the middle of the sky, illuminates the whole scene. (Berlioz, the Trojans at Carthage, act II, scene 2)
