Drought Stunts Growth Of Virginia Corn. A common scene on farms in Virginia -- crops of all kinds have been burned up already or are headed for destruction if there is no rain soon. Photo, taken on the farm of Ed Straw, near Delaphane, in Shenandoah Valley, shows to what extent the long drought has affected cornfields on his farm. The usual size of corn where Straw is standing in the picture would be over his head.
