Dr. Roger Adams, professor emeritus in the University of Illinois and one of the world's foremost organic chemists, who will receive the American Chemical Society's Charles Lathrop Parsons Award for outstanding public service at a dinner in the Mayflower Hotel, Washington, D. C., Saturday evening December 6. Dr. Adams, a past president of the Society who has contributed importantly to research on narcotics and leprosy, and has taught many of today's leaders in chemical science and technology, is widely recognized for his services to the Government. The Parsons Award consists of a scroll and the privilege of choosing the recipient of a $2,000 scholarship for graduate study in chemistry, chemical engineering or some related field.
