Department of Forestry firefighters began rescue work on a collapsed building at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sylmar, about 30 miles north of Los Angeles. The one story building collapsed during a rolling earthquake that struck the Southern California area early 2/9. It was reported that about 60 patients may have been trapped in the collapsed building.
