Washington: A summary court martial 4/12 convicted Cpl. Mary Elizabeth Burns, of Grand Junction, Colo., a 21-year-old woman Marine on two counts of disobeying orders. The charges were that she refused to wear her uniform and declined to report for duty in an office forwarding radio messages for servicemen in Vietnam to their families. She calmly told the court she would face death rather than contribute to more killing in Vietnam. Eyes closed, she is shown as she arrived at the court.
