Dr. Alma Wittlin, of the Radcliffe Institute for Independent Study, was one of more than a hundred participants at the ESI Workshop in elementary science held last summer at Newton, Mass. Topics, or units, of study being prepared by scientists and educators for use in the elementary school curriculum include laboratory science, animal behavior and locomotion, microecology, elementary physics and plant growth. Some of the units are now being taught on an experimental basis at selected schools in the United States, in preparation for more extensive use during the next few years.
