A "robot" diving bell that looks like a monster from Jules Verne's marine romances is pictured plunging into the sea, it outstretched claws groping for the sunken tug "Bahada" in United States Navy tests at Seattle of its practicability as an instrument for salvaging ships and submarines. The inventor, E. J. Romano of Seattle, Wash., claims efficient operation at greater depths than apparatus used heretofore.
