Injured and fleeing from enemies, Siegmund has just entered the house of Hunding. He collapses on the floor, and is not far from a fireplace with flames on the bottom right. On the left, moonlight penetrates through the open door and on the same side, in the middle of the room, is the trunk of the ash tree where the sword of Wotan is planted. Sieglinde runs to see Siegmund and offers him a drink, which he brings to his lips. (Wagner, Valküre, act I, scene 1)
