Deaths in the St. Louis area from 5 days of 100-degree temperatures mounted to 113, here 7/14. The City Morgue was flooded overnight with 30 more bodies, crowding the facilities resulting in bodies to be laid in the morgue hall. Mrs. Helen Taylor, St. Louis coroner, said the cause of death in 21 of the 30 cases had been attributed to the heat, bringing the city toll to 75.
