On the occasion of Mother's Day, Mrs. Bertha Ganley, 57, of Burlington, Mass., has been named DAV Mother of the Year. She is the wife of a World War I disabled veteran, mother of 10 sons who served in World War II and Korea -- four them disabled veterans -- and grandmother of 11. Son, Gerald, 13 -- who wants to be a Marine or go to West Point -- helps Mother display photographs of 10 fighting sons. She is the mother of 14 children in all, three of them daughters. Mrs. Ganley's selection for the DAV national award symbolizes all mothers throughtout the nation who are doing a magnificant job in helping disabled veterans in their families return to normal living.
