Davis Knight, 23-year-old Navy veteran, who was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment on a charge that he committed miscegenation by marrying a white woman. A Mississippi law prohibits marriage of white persons and those of one-eighth or more Negro blood. The state contends Knight's great-grandmother was a Negro.
