Doctor's wife dies after bludgeoning injured in crash

Dr. Bernard S. Cody (top), 52, was reported in a critical condition here today after his auto crashed into a stone wall, and his wife, Mrs. Grace Cody (below), 43, was dead, her skull shattered by blows from a lead pipe. Police Inspector Thomas Cahill said Dr. Cody bludgeoned Mrs. Cody and then tried to kill himself.
