A repetition, with variations, of Dodgson number 277. A bridge with a wooden parapet spans the almost dry bed of a river. At the left end of the bridge are tall poplars, two of which are isolated; at the right end are smaller trees. The town of Fermo, very lightly sketched, crowns the summit of a distant hill beyond the bridge. The pool of water in the middle of the dry bed of the stream, which had hitherto stopped near the man loading a mule, is now continued to the left so far as to lie under the first mule beyond the middle pier of the bridge. The distant town and the trees beneath it have been again re-touched.
