Detroit – UAW Pickets Stop Executives Car at Cadillac Plant – UAW pickets swarm around car at Cadillac plant Thursday in most serious incident involving walkout of $40,000 workers in 12 General Motors plants across the nation. Driver of the car, Dr. Douglas J. Wood, Cadillac Medical Director, was forced back into the parking lot but not before the pickets kicked in the side panels and smashed the windshield and side windows, according to GM spokesmen. GM and UAW are inching toward settlement of their contract differences with a strike deadline set by the UAW for next Tuesday.
