Detroit – Leaps Around With Tag Too Late – Boston Red Sox shortstop Felix Mantilla leaps around with tag but misses Detroit Tigers’ outfielder Al Kaline at third base in the 7th inning of opening game of doubleheader in Detroit today. Kaline had advanced to second on Norm Cash’s single to rightfield when Boston’s Jim Gosger threw to Billy Gardner who let ball get away for an error. Mantilla came over to cover. Umpire is Ed Runge. Detroit won 12-3.
