Detroit – Chrysler Negotiations Begin – Chrysler Corp. and United Auto Workers Union representatives gather around the huge bargaining table in Detroit as contract talks began for a new agreement. The UAW was headed by President Walter Reuther (seated on left side of table), and John D. Leary, vice president-administration headed Chrysler’s group. Talks are under way also in Detroit at Ford and General Motors.
