Cold Weather, Warm Feet. With his feet planted next to an oil stove, Benjamin Schiffer sends out his daily weather report over shortwave radio to Albany Airport. This radio is the observers'' only communication with the outside world during most of the winter. Seven months food supply was taken to the mountain top last fall. Water is obtained by melting ice and snow. Electricity is used for cooking, coal and oil for heating in the snow-bound post.
