Cold Wave Grips Colorado -- Denver's coldest day in 15 years -- 25 degrees below zero -- was recorded today as a cold wave gripped Colorado and all the Rocky Mountain region. The mercury dropped to 59 below in Western Colorado, an all-time low for the state. Ted Brondun, a weather observer, is shown checking the temperature at the Denver weather bureau. The thermometer read -22 when this picture was made.
