Cold Stops Wheels of Progress--The bitter cold weather which hit Western Kansas this week caught the mobile irrigation plant in operation at the Fort Hays Experiment Station, stopping its wheels and creating this icy artistry on the ground and between the spokes of the wheels. The large wheels support a pipeline that carries water from the experimental station to irrigate various sections of land. It can be moved from one section of the area to another to provide water for arid sections.
