A City on Ice - Truly a city on ice is Saco, Maine, where over one hundred men spend their days and nights fishing through the ice of the Saco River for smelts. These men are mostly all unemployed and realize about ten dollars a day from this occupation. Their houses are constructed from all kinds of wood with the poorer class being content with piano cases.
