Celtics Lose Russell. Bill Russell, Boston Celtics' big center holds his 5-months-old son Bill "Buddha" as his wife Rose, applies hot packs to his right ankle in their Reading, Mass., home tonight (April 7). Celtics physician Dr. Edward Browne said Russell had torn tendons in the inside and outside of the ankle and that there also was a small chip fracture. The Celtics will be without his services in the remaining games with St. Louis in the National Basketball Association playoff series.
