Child victim of ax maniac

A photo of 6-year-old Linda Joyce Glucroft, whose mutilated body was found early today under a pile of boxed in the back yard of a dwelling near her Hollywood home. The child, daughter of a Hollywood commercial artist, had been missing since yesterday. Police found an ax beside the body. They believe it was used by the slayer. A manhunt was immediately begun for Fred Stroubel, who was seen frequently with Linda in recent weeks. Police said Stroubel was arrested last April in a morals case involving the molestation of a 10-year-old girl. The child's mother, Mrs. Lillian Glucroft, described Stroubel as "sweet and kind," and said the man liked to give little Linda candy.
