Chicago Out – Chicago Heights, Ill.: Members of the United Auto Workers Local 588 gather at the entrance to the Ford Motor Co., stamping plant in Chicago Heights. The strike troubled Ford Motor company starts a huge layoff of workers across the country 11/13 in what Ford President Arjay Miller says may become a full shutdown by next week. Strikes at key stamping plants that feed the Ford car production scheme, are blamed for the layoff. If Ford closes all its 90 plants, 160,000 hourly workers will be laid off.
