Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel connecting Virginia Beach and Virginia's eastern shore U.S. Route #13. One of the engineering wonders of the world, this $200,000,000 project stretches 17.6 miles across the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. It includes two tunnels and four man-made islands, as well as 12.2 miles of the pictured concrete trestle.
