All-Weather Laboratory. Brooklyn, N.Y.--In this stainless steel room two warmly dressed men test an anti-aircraft director. The room is the Sperry Gyroscope Company's all-weather laboratory which the company built a year ago so that could test equipment under weather conditions from severest cold to greatest heat. The room is never made colder than 50 degrees below zero or hotter than 150 degrees, stainless steel was used in its construction corrosion-proof, and resistant to damage ultraviolet rays, used occasionally to simulate torrid sunlight. The test shown above is being conducted in Arctic weather so the men wear helmets and heavy flying suits.
