Santa Clara, Calif: Charles W. White, the husband of Virginia Mae White, 45, whose heart now keeps Mike Kasperak alive, says Dr. Norman Shumway is a "great man" as he viewed photographs taken during press conference where the latter announced the death 1/21 of America's first heart transplant patient. In a historic operation 1/6 conducted by a medical team under the direction of Dr. Shumway, Kasperak, 54, received the heart of White's late wife, who died of a stroke.
