The Minute Man Monument in the Square at Lexington represents Captain John Parker as he appeared on the morning of April 19, 1775, in command of the 60 or 70 Minute Men who gathered on the "Green" to oppose the British Troops sent from Boston, when he spoke those famous words "Stand your ground, don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here".
