Charged with kidnapping and torturing

Leo Gallant, 31, (left) and his wife, Rita, 28, (right) were ordered held in $10,500 bail each in Lawrence, Mass., district court today (Dec. 7) on charges of kidnapping and torturing a woman acquaintance in a custody dispute over a little girl. The pair were charged with two counts of assault and battery and with "forcibly confining" Miss Virginia Stevens, 24, of Methuen, Mass.
