Research The bottom of Moldova; The iconostasis (also called catapeteasma or carpenter) is, in the Christian place of worship, a wall that separates the altar nave. Usually made of carved wood, it is covered by icons. The iconostasis has three doors: in the middle there is the double door, empress, reserved for the priest, flanked by the diaconic doors. The iconostasis is made up of four registers of icons: the Empress icons, those of the feast, the apostles, the prophets. Up to everything, in the middle of the iconostasis, rises the Cross of the Lord, having on one side and the other the Icon of the Virgin Mary and that of St. Apostol Ioan. In front, on either side of the empress doors are placed two tetraposades used for laying hram and praznic icons. The icons are surrounded by plant motifs and the registers are separated by sawtooth teeth.
