Cornet Monastery, County. The Veil. Cornet Monastery is an architectural monument of the XVII century, from Vâlcea County, situated on the bank of the Olt River. Initially, the complex was a hermitage of monks, currently being a monastery of nuns, dedicated to the Cut of the head of St. John the Baptist. The architectural ansable consists of a stone enclosure of square shape, on which are located the barrels. At one of the corners of the precincts rises an octagonal tower, and on one of the sides - the chilies. The keel building is built of stone, with a four-water roof, with shingle covers. Upstairs access is made to a wooden staircase protected by the extension of the roof water. The entrance to the courtyard is through a gate attached to a parallelepiped construction, with thick walls pierced by a closed tunnel with wooden gates. In the middle of the precinct courtyard is the church, the only one that still retains the original form. Built on a trilobed plan, with a bell tower with eight sides on the narthex (access is on a staircase on the north side) and the Pantocrator tower with ten sides on which are situated narrow windows. The wall is made of horizontally laid brick and plaster panels, being divided by a double girdle of seemingly rounded brick that, on the west facade surrounds the niche of the dedication icon. The cornice is made of apparent brick arranged in the shape of sawmill teeth, below it a row of buttons and a smeared terracotta frieze framed by bricks placed on the edge. The cap is prominent, made of mountain boulders in brick cassettes.
