Nesting Dish with Scattered Pine Needles and Maple Leaves
Seifū Yohei I (Japanese, 1801–1861) · 1861–78
Where he intended to place the maple leaves, Yohei I first applied a white color, which can be seen around the leaf edges under the glaze. This layering on top of the white brightens the color of the translucent red overglaze.
