13th-18th Century. Medieval-Post Medieval. Copper alloy, crudely cast, 'mystery' ring. Length 27.7mm, Width 26.3mm, Thickness 2.8mm, Diameter 27.7mm, Weight 3.4g. Mass produced, multi-functional possible harness ring, belt fitting, tally stick counter, base for cloth covered button or tapestry ring. Irregular annular ring with flattened sexfoil cross-section with bevelled inside and outside edge together with hand file finishing marks. Rather corroded with a few patches of surface dark green patina. Ref.
