An incomplete copper alloy millefiori enamelled disc brooch dating to the Roman period. The face of the brooch is decorated but only half of this now survives. The mosaic style decoration consists of rows of alternating blue and white chequerboard panels, and larger square blue and white chequerboard panels within a red border. The outer edge of the brooch is raised to contain the enamelling. The reverse of the brooch retains part of the double-lug pin loop and a stub of the catchplate. The pin is missing and there is some decoration to the reverse of the brooch. Disc brooches with millefiori enamelling date to the period c. AD 100-200. This example adds to a growing corpus of objects with millefiori decoration recorded on this database.
