"Buy a Brick" campaign for the new Harriet Tubman House in the South End is launched by Mayor Kevin White, who proclaimed this week Harriet Tubman Week. $350,000 has been donated and $100,000 more is needed for the new settlement house, being built by United South End Settlements in honor of the noted abolitionist.
