Burbank, Calif. – Police Hold Back Lockheed Strikers – Police restrain strikers of the International Association of Machinist as a truck entered the struck Lockheed Aircraft Corporation missile plant at Van Nuys, Calif., today. The walkout was generally peaceful, with only several minor incidents reported. The strike, over a contract dispute, began last midnight, but during the day President Kennedy took steps under the Taft-Hartley Act which could halt the walkout. The company has aerospace plants in several cities.
