Bunker Hill Monument, Boston, Mass.

Located on Breed's Hill in the Charlestown section of Boston, the monument was erected to commemorate the Battle of Bunker Hill fought June 17, 1775. General Lafayette laid the cornerstone June 17, 1825. It stands 221 feet high and the observatory room at the top is reached from a spiral flight of 294 store steps.
