Brownsville, Tex.: Hurricane Inez, after 16 days of murderous uncertainly in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, crossed the northeast coast of Mexico 200 miles south of Brownsville 10/10 and ripped Mexican towns and cities with winds up to 135 miles an hour. At 6 A.M. EDT, Tampico reported an estimated wind velocity of 115 miles an hour, with gusts to 126 . Tampico has 200,000 residents. Inez had killed about 300 persons before hitting Mexico.
