Fantin-Latour, Henri, 1836-1904 · September 1862
In the middle, in front of the window, is an embroidery loom. Two girls are seated on each side of the loom and lean over their work. The girl on the right, whose face is seen in three quarters, seems to seize the needle which has just crossed the fabric. The girl on the left, whose face is lost in profile, is working in a similar fashion. The girls are only visible from the waist upwards. (From a drawing dated May, 1855, belonging to Mr. Heseltine of London)
