Boy held in ax-murder of mother

Nevada City, Cal.....Fifteen-year-old Samuel Hutchins is shown in the Nevada City jail after his arrest yesterday in connection with the hatchet murder of his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Hutchins, in their Oakland home. Fireman, called to the Hutchins home to extinguish a blaze, found the body of the 51-year-old woman in the basement covered with papers and a blanket which had been set afire. Police who arrested Samuel as he fled in the family auto said the youth admitted striking his mother with an ax but denied he had set the fire.
