Hoping the Yanks would make it four in a row against the cubs, Mrs. Charlie Ruffing crossed her fingers when she arrived in the Yankee stadium stands, Oct. 9, and called for her hubby, "Red" Ruffing to repeat his pitching victory of the first game of the series in Chicago. Lee, who lost to Red in the opener, 3-1, hurled for the cubs again.
